A squirrel just tried to get in the window. Like literally was digging at the crack between the window and the frame, following the frame all the way around before giving up and dropping down to the roof. I thought for a second it was a cat scratching the stairwell door but then I realized the sound was much closer.

Iowa has its nice points, and I've come to appreciate most of them, but right now, surrounded by nothing but bare dirt for miles in all directions, I'm feeling a little cranky.

I wish I had an anemometer. The weather station says winds at 17 mph, but they're sustained at at least 20, gusting at at least in the high 20s.

Wait, wait. I checked a different station that has sustained at 23, gusts to 32. That sounds more like it.

Somehow I became a weather nerd. When did that happen?

They just showed the apartment. I was up WAY late last night and early this morning shoving the crap I haven't packed yet into closets and cleaning b/c fuck, I hate to clean, especially when packing is more interesting.

NEW FAVORITE PERSON

How could I have lived here for 5 (omg FIVE) years and never heard of this guy till two days ago? His show is the most outrageous thing I've ever heard. I can't even get upset b/c I'm laughing too hard. Every other line is worth a spit-take. I literally take my hands off the wheel to applaud. Amazing. Simply amazing.

The neighbor out my kitchen window is very pregnant. I'm not good at guesstimating these things, but I think "very" gets the point across. The past week or so, their dog has been barking like a maniac at everything. Do dogs get protective concerning human reproduction?
